What is the IABC?

“The IABC has given me access to a global (and local) network of fantastic communications professionals.”

Simon Monger

Setting a standard of excellence since 1970, the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) is a vibrant global membership association with a network of 10,000 members in more than 80 countries, representing many of the global Fortune 500 companies.

Eight worldwide regions

The Europe, Middle East and North Africa (EMENA) region is one of eight regions representing IABC. And at the heart and soul of these regions are communities of members known as chapters

Chapters give members the chance to develop a network of connections, tap into local communication experts and thought leaders, and access workshops, conferences, programs and resources to drive business results and grow their career.

100+ worldwide chapters

While IABC has over 100 chapters around the world, each with local offerings, every chapter follows the same shared values that makes our association unique.

Introducing IABC UK & Ireland

“The UK&I chapter of IABC has provided me with consistent and positive support over the past few years. It’s the people that make it – they are special and generous with their knowledge.”

— Sarah Harrison

We’re a network of communications, marketing and PR professionals, based in the UK & Ireland, united by a passion for communications and aiming to develop ourselves as world-class business communicators.

Our purpose

“Helping you fulfil your career ambitions through better connection, inspiration and development.”

Founded in 1979, our UK&I chapter was the only chapter outside of North America until the 1990s. Which means our members are part of a diverse community with access to decades of communications knowledge, experience, ideas and support – all of which is constantly growing.

Our commitment to diversity and inclusion

To demonstrate our commitment to Inclusion & Diversity, the IABC UK & Ireland Board has pledged to live by the following statements:

Diversity of panels

We commit to reflecting the diversity of the people of the UK and Ireland in the speakers on our panels.

Diversity of images

We will ensure the images we use reflect our members, the communications profession and the communities we all work in.

Diversity of thought

We will highlight a range of voices through our UK&I blog, YouTube channel, and social media.

Diversity of cultures

We will ensure representation of the diversity of cultures in everything we do – be that events, blogs, social media posts or our website.

We will be reminding ourselves of these commitments on a regular basis and would also ask all our members to hold us accountable.
